Vantage 8 AppServer Sessions

Thanks, I didn't know it tells you. I will test the next time one of my
sessions runs wild.

It's state will be other than Available, such as Locked or Sending, as
described in the document.

Personally, I think the AppServer should detect the disconnected session and
kill itself. I've been told by a MS employee who works on it that MS SQL
does this within a minute. But there's some overhead involved and Epicor
decided not to incur it.

The session will eventually stop after the search is complete. Maybe this
isn't a problem... but am curious if it is.

How do you know a disconnected AppServer Session from a valid with 46 users?

Since Stephan's Server is so busy, wondering if perhaps users are kicking
off long searches and killing them at the client which doesn't kill them at
the Server. It would be frustrating and understandable for the user to do
this, especially when first going Live. Vantage 6.x automatically prevents
this by filling up the client's browser which typically holds 20 are so
records. The Server sends the next 20 based on input from the client but the
Server probably reads ahead if it has nothing better to do. But Vantage 8
usually defaults to 1000 and lets the user change the criteria, including
all rows instead of 1000.

I believe document 1507806MPS explains how to kill a disconnected AppServer
session.

Can I change my previous comment? I upgraded to Vantage 8.00 over the week
end and it was probably the worst move I could have done. Having a few users
testing Vantage 8.0 is one thing. But having 46 users doing intesive entries
in the system takes a lot of resources out of the server and it's not worth
the upgrade at this point. My server's CPU usage is alway between 30 and
90%. At 9:00 this mornig it was slow but 6 hours later it keeps getting
slower and slower.
