Vantage 8-Crystal Reports-syntaxto select the most recent PartT

Place the part information in your part group footer.

Create a running total or formula for the maximum(Parttran.Trandate) and
place it in the group t give you your last transaction.

The suppress or group filter on maximum(Parttran.Trandate) <
maximum(Partwhse.CountedDate)

Depends on whether you are formatting from a part (Part Group) or
warehouse basis (Warehouse group) as counts are completed on a warehouse
by warehouse basis.

The reason why your filter will not work, is that you need to show the
records post 01.01.2007 in order to show no transactions on the relevant
parts

Subject: [Vantage] Vantage 8-Crystal Reports-syntaxto select the most
recent PartTran record

I'm creating a Crystal report to select those parts out of the PartTran
table that haven't had any activity since Jan 1, 2007 (or since the last
full physical count was posted-which was Jan 8, 2007).
I've selected the PartTran and PartBin tables to show qty on hand and
I've grouped by PartTran.Partnum and in my Record Selection claus, I've
tried both clauses below:
not ({PartTran.TranDate} in YearToDate) or {PartTran.TranDate} < CDate
(2007, 01, 01)
However, I'm still getting parts that have transactions as recent as
March 2007.
I can't figure out how to select the most recent PartTran.TranDate on a
part- any help would be appreciated.

Can any of the Crystal reports experts on the forum provide suggestions
as to what I'm doing wrong and how to correct my select clause so that I
select all parts from the parttran table that have no transactions since
Jan 8, 2007?
Thank you in advance.

I've had problems with this in the past as well....there is a function
in crystal called onlastrecord(), but it doesn't quite work the way you
may think, but at least you can play with it and see if there is a way
to manipulate it around.

I am still looking for a better way to do it.

I would do the following to get this information:

1. Change your part group to use PartBin.PartNumber

2. Create a maximum TranDate calculation per part within the part group
footer

3. Create a prompt for the cutoff date that you wish to use

4. Remove the existing record selection formulas

5. Add a group selection formula to MAX(TranDate) <= Cutoff Date.

That should give you the information that you are looking for. Let me know
if you have any questions.
