Vantage 8 upgrade question - Conversion or Reimplementation?

I'll be at Perspectives as well. I'd be happy to
share with you how things are going at that
point...hopefully I won't be the one easy to spot
because I've pulled all my hair out!

I'm curious if any older Vantage users chose to do a new implementation,
or more appropriately reimplementation of Vantage as opposed to doing a
conversion? If you went the reimplementation route, do you now keep an
old version of 6.1 active for history?

Mike

Hi Mike,

We had been planning to upgrade from 3.0 to 8.0, but
have decided to reimplement and are still in process.
We had epicor convert our data base and the first pass
went well, though it took a long time. Due to the
size of our database (4.3 Gig) we were told to expect
the final pass to take a week. We will set up as if
8.0 were a new implementation but will still have our
old database converted to 8 for history. I didn't
want to have the 3.0 server hanging around for longer
than necessary.

Interesting. At least since you'll be reimplementing you won't have to
worry about not having the db (the one being converted) for the week it
will be converted.

We've decided to send a contingent of decision makers to Perspectives to
help us in making our decision on whether to upgrade and if so, to
convert or reimplement.

Thanks for the feedback.

Mike
