Vantage and Sonitrol

Just one person's opinion ... NO ...

Not until you know exactly why this software needs to be on your server. Is
the Sonitrol system network based ? What does it use for a database and
what does it use for basic communications. etc etc etc

If you install this on your server and it screws up the Progress config what
then ? Last I knew Progress and MS-SQL would not run on the same server. (
for instance ) This may be more then a performance issue ...

This is a great case for having more then one server.

As in:
1 server for Primary Domain Controller / print-server / WINS / etc
1 server for Vantage
1 very small server for all the weird junk like this package

I would take a P-200 with 64 meg of RAM and one drive and make it a server
just to run this program and other "Small" stuff. Got an old PC laying
around with these kind of specs ? If not, for $ 1,000 - $ 1,200 you can buy
the smallest desktop that DELL sells and load NT-Server on it.
