Vantage Archives

I believe that I was the originator of the thread, although there were
apparently other cases which I am not sure were related in cause. Our
situation was completely related to our conversion from DCD-Classic to
Vantage 4.0. Here are details of our particular situation. Yours might be
entirely different.

1. When we started Vantage two years ago we converted from DCD-Classic
(conversion provided by Epicor). What we did not know at the time was that
the conversion program, because all of our Sales Regions were blank (we
didn't use them), populated the Sales Region fields with the Sales Person ID
"ONLY" if they region code was blank. THIS WAS COMPLETELY RELATED TO THE
CLASSIC CONVERSION.

2. After converting to Vantage we tried using Sales Region and new
customers, for awhile, were setup with a valid region code. We later
abandoned this after deciding that sales regions were not useful to us. But
many customers were setup with region codes. Valid region codes at that.

3. In Vantage 4.0 the customer browser did not have a selection option on
Sales Territory so it did not care at all that there were Customer records
with invalid links (i.e.. Sales Region fields populated with Sales Person
ID's). It was "gullible" and we were not aware of the invalid links.

4. On 5.20 because we have no Sales Territory codes equal to the Sales
Person (now called Sales Force) codes a link can not be made in the browser
and it "skips" those that had the Sales Person loaded into the territory.
This makes then "invisible" to the browser and since Customer Maintenance
uses the same browser you can't "fix" them. You CAN, however, access
Customer Tracker for the missing customers by selecting a sales order for
said customer and right clicking to get to Customer Tracker for it. The
data is there, it is not gone, just hard to get to and impossible to
maintain. If this is the case for you then it is very likely a Territory
linking issue in the browser.

5. When I created a territory (id=30 for example) all the customers for
Sales Person 30 became visible (and maintainable). You can create a simple
RB report to find all customers with "unknown" territory codes and see if
these are your missing ones and what code it is looking for. If you don't
have a lot of them you could create a temporary region, do Customer
Maintenance to fix them, and remove the temporary region. We had about 600
bad ones so this was not an option. In the end Epicor Support provided a fix
program for us (because they messed them up in the Classic conversion) to
completely wipe out Sales Territory fields on ALL customers.

This was the essence of the previous thread anyway. I hope it helps you
understand your situation.

All,

How do I search for threads on past emails? I remember there being a
topic on some customers in Vantage 5.2 disappearing due to a territory
thing. I recently lost some customers and am thinking I fell prey to
the same issue. I need to find out what the end result was and what was
done to fix it. If someone still has that email can you forward it on
or let me know how to dig through past archives?

Thanks,
