Vantage MES performance

This has been a topic of previous discussion and is also based on your business approach. We have elected to hold the machinists responsible for correctly recording their hours. This is as much a part of their job descriptions as correctly manufacturing the parts. Since we use MES for payroll hours, we have a daily process to review labor hours. The corrections are made through labor entry and the director of operations addresses the issue with the employee.

Training, training, training... or pink slips (can you guess who made that one famous?)

Good afternoon all.we are investigating our Epicor system Server and Client
side as well as network structure: switches, routers, Ethernet cables and
cards to speed up Epicor's daily manufacturing and sales task performed at
our company.

We are still in the early stages of doing this analysis; however I have
noticed that the speed to perform various MES activities differ
significantly between users. One operator's account processes work queue,
end activity, start production, and etc. quite fast (e.g.: 1.5 minutes) and
another users account is drastically slow (e.g.:3.5 to 5 min) and this is
regardless of using the account on the workstations or directly on the
server, speeds are still the same.

Has anyone experienced this problem and successfully resolved it? If yes,
please share ASAC.

Thank you.

Herby,

Are all your logins on the shopfloor current?
Go to Shoptracker, select "Who is Here" tab, click who is here button and sort by oldest clock in date. Are there any sessions with a date from before today?

Using the Data Administration Menu you run conversion programs 8920 and 8930 to kill off those old sessions. Vantage has a hard time keeping track of old orphaned clock ins...

Hope this helps,

Paul

Thanks Paul. After I sent this e-mail to vantage groups yesterday I called
Epicor support and they gave me the same solution. The performance of MES
now for our operators is like a DREAM; VERY FAST!

Thanks again.

This begs the question: has someone come up with a way of automatically clocking out shop floor employees when they have been on the job for, say, 20 hours or more?
