Just goto a DOS prompt ( Command Prompt ) and use the default DOS editor ...

As in:

C:\edit file.ext

EDIT shows the line number and column number of the cursor in the status
line.

This product is FREE ... :-) ... well not really ... you have to buy the
operating system to get it.

I have tried notepad - it does not keep track of the current line.
I have tried wordpad - same result.
I have tried word - it is overly complicated.

Have any ideas?
