Vantage with Clientel

Depending on the number of users you have you can run Clientele
without SQL. We have 14 seats of Clientele without SQL. It runs just
fine.
As far as the integration goes we purchased Clientele because we
were told that the integration existed and worked. We found out upon
installation of Clientele that the integration did not really exist
yet. After numerous go arounds with the people at Vantage we had
someone come out and install the integration peice. It did not work
at first. No one could figure out why. Finally someone got it to
work. After all of that (it was about a year ago) we found the
integration to be rather useless. Things had to be done in a very
specific manner to get information to transfer.
We use the two peices separatly. We are still on Vantage 4.0 so I
don't know where the integration stands with 5.0. From the sounds of
it there is potential down the road.

Does anyone out there use Clientel with Vantage? I keep hearing that the
integration between the two are coming, but I have heard that for a while
now. When we purchased Vantage, we bought Clientel to go with it. Clientel
seems like a very powerful tool that can be used in conjunction with
Vantage. Up until now we have yet to see these two interact with one
another. I did install Clientel separately to see its tools and how it
worked only to find that any data entered into Clientel while not linked to
Vantage wont be seen by Vantage when the integration comes. I am curious to
hear anyones thoughts on this that may be in the same boat I am. Feel free
to contact me offline.

I have been interested in this too. I believe Clientele uses SQL Server as
the DB so true integration with Vantage (and Progress) may never happen. By
true integration I mean sharing Customer Master info and seamless linking
back and forth. Such as pull up a contact/customer in Clientele and
drilldown to A/R info in Vantage. Or, link from SO screen to custoemr
contact info. Also, I won't install SQL Server so better not require it.
This would mean a Progress version of Clientele. I will be making inquries
on all this at the Hall of Solutions at Perspectives next week. I am not
optimistic but still hopeful for it.
