Viewing PDF files in document management

Success!
Thanks to many great suggestions, I was able to solve my problem.
Apparantly, all of the other pc's that don't have this problem have
both Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader installed, both in version 7.0.
I only had Adobe Acrobat for some reason. I downloaded Adobe
Reader, set it up as my default PDF viewer, and it worked. So there
you have it. If anyone else is having this same issue, that may be
the solution.

funny....ok, you may want to try a 6.0 version. I remember
that I had the 7.0 version and there were issues with it.
Weather Adobe fixed it or not, I don't know, but the version
we use, and don't have problems with is 6.02.

Well, after looking into it, everyone else's pc has 7.0 and the
function works properly on their computers. I can't revert back to
a previous version because I don't just have Adobe Reader, I have
Adobe Acrobat which was purchased by the company, and came as
version 7.0 when purchased. :(

Well, after looking into it, everyone else's pc has 7.0
and the
function works properly on their computers. I can't
revert back to
a previous version because I don't just have Adobe Reader,
I have
Adobe Acrobat which was purchased by the company, and came
as
version 7.0 when purchased. :(

Not to sound too "simple", but did you reboot the PC? I've often had that issue with pdf's and that usually fixes it.
Also might want to check to see if you can open a pdf that is not through the document management.....

Don't worry, you don't sound too simple. :)
I actually shut down my pc everyday, and I have had this issue for a
couple of months now. And yes, I am able to open PDF files outside
of document management. This problem just seems to make less and
less sense the more we discuss it.

I searched my archives and found this from a post by Tanya Jernigan on Sept. 8, 2005:
-----------------------
Description = Adobe Acrobat
View command = acrobat.exe "&1"
Print command = acrobat.exe /mFilePrint "&1"
-----------------------
Note that this is different from the AcroRd32.exe "&1"
posted previously in this thread. I suspect there is a subtle difference if you are using just the reader versus the "full" Acrobat version. Trying copying AcroRd32.exe from any PC with just the reader. The rest of the .dll files should be OK and it just might work.

Don't worry, you don't sound too simple. :)
I actually shut down my pc everyday, and I have had this issue for a
couple of months now. And yes, I am able to open PDF files outside
of document management. This problem just seems to make less and
less sense the more we discuss it.

Open task manager and make note of how many processes are running, then
attempt to view the document, then look in task manager again and check
to see how many processes are now running. There should be only one
additional process, (acrobat.exe). If there are more than one, terminate
the conflicting process, you should be able to determine which one it is
by observing the CPU time used by the processes. More than one version
of acrobat usually causes problems if the pdf that is being loaded is an
embedded or linked object.

Does anyone know of a setting that might keep me from viewing PDF
files in the document management with version 6.1? Other users in the
company are able to view them, but on my pc when you click on "view"
nothing happens. This only happens with PDF files however. We tried
signing on as my username on another computer and I was able to view
them on that computer, so there must be some setting on my pc that is
keeping this from happening.
