It would depend somewhat on how you setup and use vantage but you could
compare the job operations with the quote operations using report builder or
crystal reports and leave the part master file and schedule board for
scheduling.
Your second question is answer by looking at the Schedule Factors you can
use in Vantage. (SS Start to Start, FS Finish to Start, FF Finish to Finish)
By setting the second and third operation to SS (Start to Start) they will
overlap the way you want.

Subject: [Vantage] Re: Visual Scheduling Board
Our problem is we evaluate our actual productivity against our quoted
productivity. The quoted cycle times are loaded into the jobs, not actual
rates which tends to make it tough to use Vantage to schedule. The reason
we use our quoted rates is because we have a gain share program established
which is affected by overall productivity. If we put actual rates in
Vantage, this standard would be blown out of the water. On a different note
:
First op : 100 hours
second op : 10 hours
third op : 120 hours
How do you overlap these operations, so that the schedule would read
correctly of all 3 operations? These three operations could be running at
the same time, but as you can see, because the secondary operation is 10% of
the other two, the secondary operation, technically would take from the time
you started, until the last piece is finished off the first operation.
Thus, overall labor might be 10 actual hours, but could span over several
weeks.
