VMUG Meeting Announcement

Calvin,

Thanks for the very complete answer on VMUG! It's not in our neck of
the woods so I'm unlikely to be showing up anytime soon. I think we
may have talked at lunch one day at Perspectives in Florida about the
startup of this Yahoo group.

Sounds like a dynamic bunch!

Thanks again,

John

John -

Thanks for asking the question. I don't think I have ever had to write this
so here goes...

VMUG is an acronym for the Vantage Midwest User Group.

Our mission is to share user based knowledge centered around the Vantage
software product by Epicor.

Originally our membership was open to people working with Vantage. Since
Vista and Vantage have

evolved closer together, our membership has expanded to include Vista users
as well.

The user group started in 1995-1996. It has spawned the yahoo online
discussion group, aided the

formation of other regional and industry specific user groups, assisted with
Vantage's development though

user feedback and surveys, and created/sponsored the User 4 User conference
in 2005.

VMUG meets quarterly in the Chicago area. The meetings are 5 hours long
with a standard format covering

an opening 2 hour "General/Global Topic", 1 hour catered lunch, and 3
concurrent 2 hour sessions with focused

topics. With the meeting's opening topic, we try to keep a general focus so
that all members attending benefit

from the session. The following concurrent sessions are more specific in
nature and have ranged in the areas

of Reporting (Crystal/Report Builder) classes, Module/Industry specific
forums (ie., Quality, Scheduling, EDI,

Kanban, Lean, HR, Inventory, and Shipping) as well as System Administration,
Upgrading, and Customizations.

The Chairperson (myself) and Treasurer (Sandy Morse, BVR Technologies) are
volunteer positions. I try to handle

communications with the group members, meeting topics, meeting reminders and
Sandy tracks membership,

dues and expenses with meeting locations & catering. We still would like
someone to volunteer for a secretary

position to coordinate meeting notes, handouts and documentation but this
position has been open for over

8 years - it is a like but definitely not mandatory. (ANY TAKERS?)

Sorry, back to the topic of your email...

Again, the meetings are held quarterly in the middle of the month so as to
not offend the accounting types

that are generally too busy around month ending. Our next meetings will be
in May, August, and November.

Annual dues are $100 and this covers sending one person to each meeting for
the year. To attend individual

meetings the cost is $25 for the first person. As either an annual member
or individual meeting member,

the cost is $10 per additional person. The fees are to cover the cost of
the meeting space and the catered lunch.

Excess revenues are open for raffles and group agreed expenses. We do ask
that attendees register so that

we can coordinate enough space and food for the meetings.

I hope this answers your questions and that someday your voice and ideas
will join in.

Thanks,

Calvin Dekker

VMUG Chairperson

Kersten -

When I have the total numbers, I will email everyone. I am trying to get
Epicor to allow each

to pay directly at the discounted price but if VMUG has to collect the funds
we will.

I will let you know after the user group meeting on Friday what Epicor's
answer is.

Thanks,

Calvin
