VMWare ESX Guidance

From some quick research it looks like the VM Controller and Loader are referencing the vcenter server which is a virtual server that links to your esx hosts for controlling and modifying. I wouldn't worry about that.

Thanks Jordan. This is the document that he's reading. I have never heard of a Controller or Loader VM but I'm no expert.

Our IT guy wants to set up a test install for 9.05. We have a document for
creating VMs but there are more questions than answers. (VMs for appServers
and Database but what are the Controller and Loader VMs for? Is this just
for SQL?).

Any pointers for those using ESX 5.1 would be appreciated!

We use ESXi 5.1. I don't know anything about Controller or Loader VMs. Otherwise our app server and sql server are VM's. Just a matter of setting up server 2008 R2 virtual machines and installing the software on each.
