Vntg 8.0 client

You're right, there is no reason not to install in the prescribed order.

Chris,

You are right on with Crystal, however my experience (8.03) has been
that installing the client prior to .Net works most of the time but not
all of the time. I have resigned myself to install them in the
recommended order which has worked 100% of the time in my environment.

You can copy the whole CD to your shared drive (.Net, Crystal, Client
install) and run it from anywhere in your network. Although for best
performance, you will probably want to get the latest Crystal Runtime XI
R2, which is available on the Epicor website. This is just the runtime
engine so you can still edit or create custom reports with the full
version of Crystal 10 (if that's what you have).

I don't think the order is that critical as long as the .Net is loaded
before you run Vantage. Vantage will also run just fine without Crystal
loaded although you won't have half your reports available until you do.

You can share a DVD Drive and run it from the share just like from the
network. Or you can copy it to the server.

Either way. Key is that dotnet and the dotnet service pack is installed
as well as the client.

Subject: [Vantage] Vntg 8.0 client

I am having problems with installing the Vantage client on a PC.
The client installed on the server works just fine. The DB, Apps
servers, etc are running.
I think I have all the rights for the users okay.
I have tried the full client install from the CD and the minimal client
install from the CD. I think I should be installing the clients from the
server, but I can't find anything on how to do this.
I am so used to the older versions of client installs - there was a
Client install program on the server.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Nancy

That would be better then running around with a CD.
Thanks Paul.

You can also copy all that down to the server from the DVD and run them
off the server for each client.

Okay, I did that on the server, but I didn't think I needed them on the
client.
I will give it a try.
Thanks Todd, you are aways a help.

Nancy,

You have to run it from the CD so you get the options to install Dot Net
1.1, the Dot Net SP1, the Crystal Runtime files and then finally the
client. You have to do them all in that order. Client should work then.
