Wacky printer issue

Mark,

Thanks for the suggestions... I don't know how the Save Data and No Printer options got changed (I also leave them cleared and selected by default).

The very first time they print (from when the printer was powered on, not from when Windows is restarted) it works fine, but after that it will reprint 50 copies of that first label, regardless of what was asked to be printed. If I bring up the Print Preview, the label is as it should be... but if I then click Print it will actually print the wrong one. If I print to an HP Laserjet also locally attached, the correct label prints, but the wrong number of copies.

Our receiving dept prints product labels from the Receipt Entry screen, a Crystal report that just spits out a 1" x 3" label with part number, receiver ID and bin location (printer is a Datamax XL, current driver). I'd try reinstalling the driver. We went through a boat load of trouble
with our label printers and in the end reinstalling the drivers made the
difference.

Our receiving dept prints product labels from the Receipt Entry screen,
a Crystal report that just spits out a 1" x 3" label with part number,
receiver ID and bin location (printer is a Datamax XL, current driver).
We had a minor meltdown this past weekend, resulting in having to
reinstall the Epicor client on several PCs. Since that time, this
particular PC can't print that one report correctly. The very first time
they print (from when the printer was powered on, not from when Windows
is restarted) it works fine, but after that it will reprint 50 copies of
that first label, regardless of what was asked to be printed. If I bring
up the Print Preview, the label is as it should be... but if I then
click Print it will actually print the wrong one. If I print to an HP
Laserjet also locally attached, the correct label prints, but the wrong
number of copies.

Printing from any other application seems to work fine.

Hi

In crystal I make sure that all my reports have in page setup, "no printer optimize for screen display" checked and also in the file menu that "save data with report" is unchecked.

this solved many of our printer issues in the "early days"

Mark,

Just for claritys sake, by all my reports, do you mean all of your *
custom* reports or all of the reports in your system (including Epicors
standard reports)?

Scott

Hi Scott

Yes sorry I mean all my custom reports but I make a habit of clearing that box even for the vantage standard reports that I have modified. I have noticed that an annoying feature of crystal it to set the printer in the report to the last printer used then saving this info, so before I save I clear that tickbox.
