Way off topic - Outlook

MANY thanks to everyone who replied - this fix worked and I didn't have to
regedit. Hooray!!!

Yet another interesting idea from Microsoft!

I had a similar problem and found that if I changed this in MS Word, all
worked out. Try Tools/Options/User Information... change the name here, and
this should resolve the problem

Hi all:

I have a little problem with Outlook, and I'm hoping someone out there has
found the solution...Microsoft's web site hasn't helped...

A user's name is used by Outlook (and other MS products) and is listed as
the registered user on the opening page of Outlook. This user is no longer
with the company (Windows 98 system BTW). No matter what I do, including
uninstall and re-install the office 2000 software, delete all references to
other users in the .PWL files, chant and burn incense, I can't get this name
off of outlook...and the real problem is that it uses this name as the
"author" of all Word and Excel docs as well, instead of the new person, who
has her own name and password on the network, Vantage, exchange server and
so on. In fact, the old name is no longer a domain user...I'm pulling out
my hair, and don't have much left.

Any ideas?

If this isn't appropriate for this list, contact me off-list, please.

Thanks,

Lydia

Try using regedit.exe and searching through the Registry. If I remember
right you are looking for Registered User.

Ok, here's an obscure location for you... Open EXCEL, yes, EXCEL. Go to Tools/Options and open the General Tab. See the bottom that says User Name. Change THAT to change the Username in ALL of the Office apps! At least this works in Office 2000.
