Web Component and Looping Login

Anton,
I changed each of the three services to have my user name as the log on. I also checked the box to "Allow Directory Browsing". The login screen persists.
W2K and Crystal Enterprise 8

Troy,

With Crystal Enterprise, there are 3 services that need to be run as a User
Account on W2k with IIS.

These are:-
Page Server, Report Job Server, Cache Server.

Try setting these other two up, and also go into Admin Tools -> Personal Web
Manager, and for your reports folder, select "Allow Directory Browsing".

Let me know how you get on..

Thanks, Jim. I changed the user to my username, but it still doesn't work in
the "browse" method (where you list a directory's files and then click the
link to the .rpt file.). It does, however, work if I use the Crystal
Publishing Wizard and specify the "sysprogress" and "sysprogress" username
and password. That will be a long process for our 30 reports.

Some time ago, there was a thread about setting up the Crystal Web Component (or Crystal Enterprise) and a problem with a login dialog box that persisted in coming up ("looping login" we called it). I have this running fine on an NT 40 box as a service. Crystal Tech support had helped me fix the problem without having to use pageserver as a process.

Now, I'm trying to get this to work on a W2K box and I can't get the pageserver to work in EITHER method (as a service or as a process). I now (because I didn't write it down) don't remember the trick to having pageserver work as a service. I'm trying to us the command line: "pageserver.exe -cache -deletecache -console", but the window comes up and says:

Warning: ORB::BOA_init: hostname lookup returned `localhost' (127.0.0.1)
Use the -OAhost option to select some other hostname
Warning: ORB_init: ORB already initialized
Warning: ORB::BOA_init: BOA already initialized
Warning: ORB_init: ORB already initialized
Warning: ORB::BOA_init: BOA already initialized

@ your command:

Anyone have any idea how I can get either method to work?

Troy,

I have pageserver running as a service. Use the Crystal Config Manager -
stop pageserver; open properties, under "log on as" - uncheck "system
account"; in the account box, enter a real user account (I use mine) that
has admin priveledges, enter password and confirm. Apply/OK; Restart
pageserver. HTH
