Web Service vs ODBC to update

I would use the Web Services unless your transaction volume is just too
high. That way if you put BPM or Data Directives or something on those
fields later, it won't be an issue.

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Any advantage of using Web Services to update UD fields on the JobHead with WebServices instead of ODBC?
I just need to create an app that I can pull in some data and allow the user to mass update JobHead.ShortChar01 and JobHead.Number01
ODBC does not check any business rules while Web Services ensure that
everything is done properly.

So as long as it is just UD fields no sense in using the Web Service is what I am hearing?
