Weird Problem

Another couple things I found from old messages that might rule out database connection confusion by RB.....

1. In RB under Options|Preferences check mark the "Prompt Always" for Db connection and see if that makes a difference - just for testing it out. If forcing the DB conneciton values at runtime fixes things it then...

2. Copy the report to another PRL and in the process change the database connection for the "new" report. Then copy the report back to the original PRL and NOT change the new settings (either overwrite or give new name). This shuffle allows you
to change the connection. Normally when run from menus RB should ignore this and take the user's current settings but just incase.... Hitting the wrong database could result in screwy numbers.

Subject: [Vantage] Weird Problem

Here's a weird problem. I have a report I made in report builder. It kind of simulates the Time Phase Material Report. When I run it in Report builder it works great. If I make it a menu option in Vantage, and I just do a print preview before I print, the calculations are all wrong. If I make it a menu option in Vantage and I select to change report filters (even though I'm not making any changes to the filter), and then print preview, the calculations are right. Has anybody ever seen this before?

Thanks,
Jasper

There is a mean little quirk in RB's database connection that might be biting you. Maybe not the problem but just incase....

Is there any chance you have tested or modified the report while pointing at a test database? Way back in an older version of Progress there was an issue about the database connection on RB reports getting set for the report to point to a "non-live" database even if you were currently running in Vantage pointing to the live database. I don't recall the details but opening the report in Report Builder and checking the database connection setting might reveal a problem that is confusing the report even when run from the menus in different modes (change filter or not).
