What controls which screen the Epicor client opens on with dual monitors?

Hello,

I have an employee that has the Epicor client suddenly opening on the second monitor instead of the first one.

Started a couple of weeks ago.

I purged the personalizations thinking that controlled it but no luck.

Didn’t see anything in settings.

Any ideas on how to fix?

Any help is truly appreciated!

I don’t know the answer, but it seems like for me the program starts in whatever screen my mouse is currently in.

For me, it always seems to open up in whichever screen my mouse is in at the time. At least, 100% the login screen does this. I guess I haven’t paid much attention to which screen the home screen opens up on. It seems like it opens on the one you closed it on last time.

Doesn’t windows handle this? Windows opens apps wherever they were last closed from.

Hello,

I tried it both ways on mine and it always opens on the first screen for me.

I clicked the Epicor icon and moved the mouse to second screen. The splash screen opened on second monitor but the client home page opened on first screen.

Then I moved client to second screen and closed it there.

Clicked the icon again and moved mouse to second screen. Client still opened on first monitor…

Any ideas?

Mine looks the same as yours but the screen doesn’t follow what windows says for me.

Try unchecking, and rechecking and reboot.

I think it actually stores this somehow in the customization/personalization. I went into a screen and moved it back and saved the customization. From that point forward it was on the primary monitor for all users.

Within individual screens and dashboards, this is 100% true.

Also want to clarify that this “problem” goes away when you run Kinetic in a browser. It will simply open a new tab in the browser app that you are running, eliminating the confusion of the way that the smart client would open a new app on a screen that may no longer be connected (This happens to me when I run on my docked workstation with two big monitors, and then remove my laptop from the dock… it is sometimes hard to find the window).
