What features of Progress OpenEdge does Vantage 8.0 use?

rsn,

I'm looking for training for our programming staff so that they will
be able to make local customization to Vantage. We need to be able to
implement some of our sites business logic (beyond "personalization").

If I knew more how the Vantage environment was organized I could zero
in on what our programmers need to learn.

didn't have it since they consider it as part of their proprietary
architecture. However as you indicated there are no form calls to
OpenEdge since the Appsever layer addresses this and conforms to a
3-tier architecture... this being said, I'm not clear on what you are
trying to do with this know-how-are you looking to do custom
development against vantage or data conversion from Avante to vantage
via APIs?

We are a converting our Avante ERP system to Vantage 8.0 and I am
looking into classes offered by Progress for OpenEdge10.

The first course recommended is 4GL Essentials.

From what I can tell Vantage 8.0 uses .NET for the user interface and
then those routines make calls to Progress Methods. Thus no screen
interaction is done directly by OpenEdge10.

I would like the 4GL Essentials class to be tailored to how Vantage
8.0 is using it. But the Progress instructor is not familiar with
Vantage and the people I've talked to at EPICOR, aren't real helpful
either.

A chart of the run time environment used by Vantage would be helpful
or if anyone has a brief description on the workings of
Vantage/OpenEdge, I would appreciate your input.

Thanks in Advance.

Rod, I requested the same information from the Epicor technical people prior to our implementation and they wouldn't give it to me/or didn't have it since they consider it as part of their proprietary architecture.
