What-if Analysis

Gerry,
Yeah, sure. Anything would be better than the nothing I have now. Can I drop you a line if I have any questions?

Thanks,
-Karl

Subject: [Vantage] What-if Analysis

Â
A few months ago, I was asked to provide a solution for "What If"
checks. I didn't have much luck with a BAQ because you cannot add
multiple instances of a table in Vantage 8. So I wussed out and created
a "What If" tool in MS Access. I can send you a copy if you like.

In Epicor 9, I am told that you can add multiple instances of a table
now.

I have a Crystal report that is essentially an exploded BOM report that includes info for quantity on hand and allocations in order to tell whether we have a shortage on parts for an assembly requested by the customer. But it only works for one assembly at a time. Naturally a customer has come forward who wants several assemblies all of which have many common parts and wants to know what are the current shortages.

Have others met this challenge? I looked into the "What-if" capablities once but it seemed rather disappointing or badly explained. Is this a challenge you have been able to meet?

Thanks,
-Karl
