So we have PMs who like to change the parts on the sales order lines that already have firm jobs.
I know that MRP will pick that up and create new unfirm jobs but where do the old firmed jobs go so that I can find them to delete them?

What does your Time Phased Inquiry show for that part?
I haven’t looked. I’m new to Epicor and thought there might be somewhere these jobs go.
I tried planning workbench but that is a hot mess of lines to dig through.
Is the only other place these would be deposited would be the time phase?
Time Phased can be very helpful information wise. For example we had a user wondering why a job wasn’t being created. In Time Phased it read that a job was already open but short quantity. It suggested we adjust the date of the job to a week later and increase the quantity to match the demand that had changed since the original job was created.
As far as firm jobs going somewhere if they still exist it should reference them in Time Phased somewhere if they are there.
Thank you. That is very helpful information. I’ll dig into this using time phase.
I haven’t explored it much but definitely will.
Planning workbench is a lot to go through but that’s probably going to be the best place to go because you can sort by entire sales orders. Time phase tells you everything you need to know about your supply and demand schedule for a certain part, so you’ll have to know the old part number to find the job.
A BAQ for this would be pretty simple. Join OrderRel and JobProd tables to find all of the jobs that have a demand link to an order. You can add a parameter to type in the Order# in question so it would be less to sort through.
Take it one step further and hook it to the PartSug table and look for the parts that have a “Can” (cancel) type.
The PartSug table is the one planning workbench and Time Phase use to display suggestions for manufactured parts.
If you have purchase direct parts on your SO that also get changed, the SugPOChg table holds the PO change suggestions.
The increase suggestions always bit us in the rear because they constantly need to be managed. I put in a BPM that locks the qty when jobs are firmed so that if there is a demand increase for a part that already had a job in process them MRP will make an entirely new job for it.
If no transactions occurred against the unfirmed job, part of the MRP process removes the job. If required it would be re-created during MRP. You may notice the same part gets a new unfirm job Number after MRP.
I don’t think so. Our firm jobs stay linked to the order lines.
I know it seems wrong since you cannot manually link a job to an order if the parts are not the same. But if they are already linked, the link is not then broken by changing the part.
Ditto!
