The folks I am working with see nothing that is not right in front of
them. If I don't create a reason code for this, and keep it on the same
tab as the checkbox, they will not take time to look for the memo to
tell them reasons for hold. We use this same hold for other things, and
there is danger that someone will make assumptions, unless the reason
for hold is right there. It's a great idea- to use the memo and avoid
extra customization, but I'd still have to create a BPM to pop up the
memo, if we don't have it as a field to view and update. Which do you
think would stand an upgrade better? Pop-up most recent memo with type
"x" on checkbox set to false? (I'd still be worried that they would put
something on hold, and not create the memo... Can I create a memo as
part of a custom process? This all sprang out of the need to
automatically place an order of credit hold- not a customer, but an
order- if the open order value plus open A/R > limit...)
Thank you for the good ideas and assistance!

What's wrong with a memo as to the reason for credit hold? It eliminates
the reason code customization.

Ross,
Thank you very much! This fits the bill perfectly. We will need to
add a ud field for a reason code, as we put things on hold for other
reasons than credit, but we were going to do that, anyway.
Thanks again for your help!

leAnn,
We used the ORDERHELD field in the OrderHed table to stop sales order
shipments.
I know this doesn't initially prevent shipping so I created a SO BPM
Hold
and two BPM rules. One is to attach/detach the BPM hold to the sales
order
when the HOLD checkbox is set to true/false. The second one is to stop
shipping of the sale orders with a BPM hold on it.
This method works well if it works for your process.

Oh, crud. This is a hierarchal relationship, not a direct one, huh?
The customer is on hold, not the orders. Orders can have override set to
true, but the individual orders are never really on hold...
O, well. Thanks for the help!

We are going to customize, and create a button to check open orders
against the credit limit in the customer master. Setting the customer on
hold is easy, but how do you set only one order on hold?
Thanks in advance!
