I was wondering which group has permissions to edit time in the Time and Expense Entry screen. I think it is either Human Resources, Production, or Production Power User. Does anyone know for certain which one this is? I am tasked on creating a report for corporate for their audit of all users that have this power. TIA!
So it is not a specific role/group?
You could narrow permissions to edit on menu entries as well, but there was a vagueness to your question. If an audit of EDIT permission, then the checkbox would be my answer, but do you need creation also? Do you truly want just EDIT of existing time entries? The menu items allowing time entry edits would be set by permissions as well as the checkbox I noted above.
AFAIK, there are quite a few items allowing creation of time entries, but the checkbox above allows edits to them.
The strange thing is that our payroll lady is 100% able to edit time, but those checkboxes are not checked on her user account. When I did a query on the usercomp table, it is only me and one other person in the results.
Do they have permissions to access the UI App? Do they have supervisor checked on their employee record? Do they have production worker checked on their employee record? When you say EDIT do you mean change anyone else’s time or just create entries? approve entries? or?
She said change time. I would assume she meant change someone else’s time. I will check the other places and get more info from her tomorrow. Will check back with more. Sorry it was a little vague. I didn’t think there would have been so much to it.
I am back! She has 4 groups and the checkboxes are not checked on her user account. She is still able to adjust time in time and expense entry. I removed production and production power user from her groups and she is still able to adjust time. This makes no sense. I think I am going to email Epicor about this.
Perhaps her employee record is setup as an approver in the other employees approval tasks…Worth taking a look. I can’t recall if an approver has the ability to modify submitted time or not…
I really did think it was the setting in user security that gave the ability…
Another thing to check is what employee id is the payroll persons user account connected to… That would definitely allow them to modify time on that employee.
One way to check is if she opens time entry and the employee defaults to someone other than her, you know her user account is not setup correctly.
The whole User on the employee record and the employee on the user account is very confusing. In a past life I always set them the same…
Could the cause be that she is a Payroll Manager in Epicor. I don’t know for sure but that grants access to a lot of payroll activities normally locked up.
Does the new user have a Work Force record? Are they an authorized user under that Work Force?
Refer to the below thread. I had no idea Work Force was related to time entry approval at the time, but this thread refreshed my memory. This could be related to the issue you’re having.
Permissions can sometimes be quite confusing when trying to troubleshoot and existing User. I like to create a generic User in the database that I can use to test permissions independent of an actual user. In this instance, I would setup the generic User with only base permissions and assign the needed Security so that they can access Time and Expense, log them in, and see what they can do on the Time and Expense screen. You then add and subtract permissions one at a time for the User until you identify the needed combination.
I was let go by the company I worked for, so not my problem anymore. Thank you for all the responses though.
