If you know anything about requirements for timing, or amount of operations to be reported at once, or any other reason that you know of that would prevent backflushing, that would be helpful.
Prod Standard / Pieces Per Hour filled in? Qty Per parent correct?

Subject: [Vantage] Why would materials not backflush?
I'm wondering if anyone know of any reasons why job materials set to backflush would not issue when the operation is completed. I have a small percentage (about 1%) of materials on open orders now where the operations are set
to backflush, and the operations are complete but the materials didn't issue.
If you know anything about requirements for timing, or amount of operations to be reported at once, or any other reason that you know of that would prevent backflushing, that would be helpful.
Yup, these are the the first things that I checked.
Prod Standard / Pieces Per Hour filled in?
No, but we don't use production standards on anything. It's not affecting 99% of the operations.
Qty Per parent correct?
Yes, I'm finding the error because the quantity issued doesn't match the quantity required in the system. If that was incorrect, I wouldn't be able to find the problems with a query.
Any other ideas?
Was the job received qty complete. Is the backflushed material on the final operation

Verify in the Job that the Material is tied to the Operation in question. You will find this on the Job Details --> Materials --> Detail sheet under the Related Operation group. Verify that the Backflush box is checked. Also, the material should be
listed under the Operation in the tree view under Resources.

The job is currently still open. The operation is flagged as complete. The operation is the first operation on the part, but materials are generally required at the first operation so that's the operation they should be required on. That's how everything else that is working is set up and it is how it is suggested it should be from epicor training.
The issue isn't that inventory isn't going on hand (which would have to do with the last operation being complete) this issue is that the material needed for the operation isn't being issued automatically when the operation is reported as complete for these small percentage of operations.
I think for back flushing it will only do it on the final operation doesn’t it?

In Part Maintenance > Part > Plants > Detail, is the Backflush box checked? The setup is plant specific.

you can also open job entry then go to job details>materials> details. look in the related operation group box to see if the backflush check box is checked. i think, the part has to be checked backflush under the in part entry before you create the job for it to backflush. i am not sure about this.Â

FYI, that flag sets the default behavior of the part when you get details, but you can control it on the job whether it's set to backflush or not.
If you have ticked and tied everything and are still having a problem, have you tried a support call?

Yes to all of it. Those are the things that I know to check. I even wrote a query to look for parts that are set as backflush on the job, and the operation is complete, but the material is not issued complete.

I see that sometimes on 702A Prog.
Sometimes it is the user un data collecting and then doing it again that messes it up.
They do 5 and back it out to only do 3.
Or they manually issue.

Yes, but as stated, that should be controllable on the job. FWIW Both are checked to backflush.
Is the material serialized or lot controlled?
No it is not. We don't have any lot or serialization control for anything in this company.
I have not because I can't recreate the problem at will. I haven't found any pattern to be able to show them when it happens. My experience so far with support is that if you aren't able to recreate the problem, they don't know what do do about it.
It sounds like you have investigated most / all of the possible setup issues. The only one I hadn’t thought of was if the operation that isn’t backflushing is a Subcontract operation. There was a thread on the EUG about that problem this morning. I concur you probably need to submit a ticket………..that’s part of the yearly maintenance fee!
Good Luck!

Subject: [Vantage] Re: Why would materials not backflush?
If you have ticked and tied everything and are still having a problem, have you tried a support call?
I have not because I can't recreate the problem at will. I haven't found any pattern to be able to show them when it happens. My experience so far with support is that if you aren't able to recreate the problem, they don't know what do do about it.
