Work Center Setup - 1 person Running Multiple Jobs in Multiple W

Ben,

Best of luck on this. We have a similar set up (4 lasers, each
running nests of multiple jobs).

In the end, we created four dummy employees (Laser1, Laser2Â….). The
operator clocks into Indirect and each day turns in completed nests
with start/stop times. We do our labor/material allocations in excel
based on the nested data and enter labor under the dummy employee.

We are also on 6.1. I'd be interested in a better solution but we
haven't found one. We did purchase a custom program (not from Epicor)
that interfaces our nesting software and Vantage to create Labor
Entries automatically but after a few days of testing scrapped the
program because material timing and some logic problems we overlooked.

I'm trying to figure out the right way to set up Work Centers for our
laser department.

We have 3 lasers which can be operated by 1 person simultaneously.
Each laser has its own work center set up. We may be running 1 job
on each laser or multiple jobs on each laser. By default, the labor
splits evenly for the time they are clocked in, which isn't perfect,
but OK. If they are running 3 jobs on 1 laser clicking the
burden=labor check box yields the correct burden calculation for that
laser. But if the are running 3 jobs, 1 on each laser, the burden is
split and it shouldn't be. I tried the Use Estimates Check box but
that yielded unexpected results in the labor calculation and still
didn't handle burden correctly.

I want the time split evenly between all jobs the operator is working
on at the same time. I want the burden split between jobs worked on
in the same work center, but not across all 3 work centers.

Is there a way to do this?

I'm trying to do this in 6.1 now, but I'm assuming 8.X is similar.

Thanks,
