Work order printing

We print a logo via an embedded picture on a customized crystal report,
and it could be in colour. You could either add several pictures for
the different colours, and conditionally suppress all except the right
one via some formulas. Or you add a point a single image on the report
to one of several different external files, using a formula to calculate
the correct filename. This should be possible in 6.1 as well as 9.05.

Good luck with the upgrade from 6.1. We just did the same, was a lot of
work and some swearing, but worth it.

Brian.

Subject: [Vantage] Work order printing

I have sent this "functionality" question to Epicor but I'm waiting for
an official response. I'd like to throw this out to the group to see if
any of you have already implemented something like this. Here it is:

We're on Vantage 6.1 and migrating directly to 9.05 in Q1-Q2 of 2012.
For our work orders, we print different types (Tooling, Programming,
Drawings, FAI, First Run, etc) To distinguish the difference, quickly,
we print these on different colored paper. Programming work orders are
Purple, Green is First Run, etc. We tossed around the idea of using
colored sleeves and white paper but that was dismissed. We want to look
at alternatives because colored paper is expensive and we also don't
want to lease a copy machine with 6+ input trays. Our business is
growing very quickly and we need a solution soon. The other idea was to
see if Vantage/E9 can print a colored object on white paper... such as a
report header label, or the company logo in a different color based on
what type of work order it is. Each work order's first character
identifies what type it is. We could also maybe program a custom field
as to mark what type it is to key off of. My question is whether or not
Vantage/E9 has the code to support this already. Have any of you ran
into a similar situation and how did you solve it?

Thanks
-James
