Hey Mark. I had to go back and look at this becuase I do this work for
my family business in my spare time. :-) And yes, I did get a task one
to work. This is through a BAM. I did get help with this and it used a
.p file executed through the "Alert Program" line in the BAM.

{ud/GlbAlert.i &TableName = "Task"}

ASSIGN SendEmail = FALSE.

DEFINE VARIABLE lcEmailText AS CHARACTER.
DEFINE VARIABLE lcContactName AS CHARACTER.
DEFINE VARIABLE lcContactPhone AS CHARACTER.

lcContactName = ''.
lcContactPhone = ''.

FOR FIRST SalesRep WHERE SalesRep.SalesRepCode = Task.SalesRepCode AND
SalesRep.Company = Task.Company AND Task.SendAlertComplete = TRUE :
FOR FIRST Customer WHERE Customer.Company = Task.Company AND
Customer.CustNum = Task.TaskCustNum :

FOR FIRST CustCnt WHERE CustCnt.Company = Task.Company AND
CustCnt.CustNum = Task.TaskCustNum AND CustCnt.ConNum = Task.TaskConNum
.
lcContactName = CustCnt.Name.
lcContactPhone = CustCnt.Phone.
END.

lcEmailText = " A new task was created for " + SalesRep.SalesRepCode + "
related to " + Task.RelatedToFile + Task.Key1 +
" The task is to " + Task.TaskDescription + " The Company is " +
Customer.Name +
" and the contact is " + lcContactName + " at " + lcContactPhone +
" Please see your Task List for further information and to complete this
task" .

assign Email-Text = lcEmailText.
assign EMAIL-TO = SalesRep.EmailAddress.
assign SendEmail = true.

END.
END.

I also created the alerts for the order change. We added a checkbox in
the order entry screen so that changes can be made to the order before
it is released to the shop.

assign SendEmail = false.

FOR FIRST OrderHed WHERE OrderHed.OrderNum = OrderDtl.OrderNum AND
OrderHed.Company = OrderDtl.Company AND OrderHed.Checkbox01 = TRUE:
assign Email-Text = "Required Date was changed on order " +
STRING(OrderHed.OrderNum) + " line number " + STRING(OrderDtl.OrderLine)
+ " to " + STRING(OrderDtl.RequestDate).
assign SendEmail = true.
END

Hope that helps!

Hi Group. I'm just going to throw this out there. I'm a work smarter not harder type of person and I know we all have many more demands on our time becuase of the economy etc. I'd like to invite people to export and upload BPMs that are working for them that they are willing to share rather than all of us writing the same or similar BPMs. Plus Web2.0 is all about collaboration, right? I know these are vague so if you have someting similiar you're willing to share, GREAT and I can tweek to call out the specifics for my uses.

Thank you for all your help!

Emily,

Did you get anywhere with your Tasks BOM?
If so would you be willing to share?

Emily, Mark

For number 1, I created a BAM .p procedure that writes changes to sales orders to a csv file as they occur throught the day. At night, I have Service Connect pick up the file. I run it through one conversion to convert to XML and send it to a Poster that emails the file using the Excel to XML converter.

If you have Service Connect, this may be of interest to you....

Hello Emily,

I have written several BPM's that send e-mails under certain circumstances, i.e. e-mail specific user when a change to any Sales Order is made; e-mail our CFO when a Purchase Order needs approval, then when it is approved, or rejected, e-mail the person who submitted it the result of their PO.

While these don't match exactly with what you're trying to do, it may give you some guidance. Let me know I'd be more than willing to help you out.

Bob,

Any chance you have one for when a Task is assigned an email is sent to
the person it is assigned to?

I follow the same work ethic. If anyone is generous enough to upload BPM's. That would be greatly appreciated.

Just a Comment

Thank You
