World Class Customer Support - Not

Lol - Wayne, on an off topic note, illwillpress.com is one of my favorite
web sites. Every Friday here at 4:30, I would play foamy the squirrel really
loud as an ending for the week. Now that we redid the offices and got all
new computers, I have no speakers anymore.

:-( I miss foamy lol

I sent this message to Tech Support on the morning of December 6th, they
closed it on the afternoon of December 8th and I never received a response.
Has anyone in the group encountered similar problems on a test installation
of 6.1, We did not convert an earlier database, essentially we were doing a
fresh install on a separate server so that we could test Vantage 6.1.

Call Details
We are attempting to load a test version of Vantage 6.1 on one
of our servers. We installed this last week and encountered
problems when we tried to bring up the client. Upon clicking
on the vantage icons the computer starts searching for the paths.
On further investigation it is looking for either Vantage.mfg,
Training Vantage.mfg or schema change.mfg depending on the icon
selected. I did a search on *.mfg and found that none of these
files exist. I talked to tech support on Friday December 3rd
and they suggested that I reinstall. At first I just re-installed
Vantage I achieved the same results. Next I unistalled Vantage
and Progress and tried again. I am still receiving the same
results. The only odd thing that I noticed during the install
of Vantage was that the install seemed to be a gradual process
until it got to be 65-66% complete and then it ended abruptly,
but no error message. Our system administrator did our first
install and I attempted the most recent. I am guessing that
we either have a bad install disk, bad directions or additional
directions are required for a test install. Either way after
several installs by two different people the only thing that
is consistent is that we come up with the same problem each
time.

Sounds like a bad install disk to me.

I hate when they "close" a call and it has not really been closed in the
customers eyes but just moved to a different department. I have called
customer service department manager in the past and complained. This is on
of the evils of metrics and bonuses towards for metrics.
