Yearend inventory

Thank you so much... I am going to create the BAQ in our pilot
environment & run a test inventory to work with the tag format...

Thanks! to all.

CountGrp, CountTag, and Part. If you want to know what the expected
quantity is then you will also need table CountExp.

We sort by CountTag.BinNum.

It is a simple BAQ. The tag layout is your only challenge.

Thank you everyone for all the responses!

We have everything we need to get started, except the double tags.

I have read everyone's methods for this & it seems as though the BAQ is
the way to go.

Problem being, I haven't worked with them much, I have written 100s of
crystal reports with ODBC (I know, I know, I will change that when we go
to 9.05)

What tables am I suppose to go after once we generate the tags?

Thanks!

We print our inventory tags on 4" x 2" self adhesive labels with
duplicate tags side by side. One label stays with the parts and the
other goes back to the tag guru who distributes it to the entry
personnel. The user counting must fill in and sign both lables. We have
done this for serveral years now and it seems to work well. We use
different colored lables each year to help with identification.

The crystal report was designed as a standard 8 1/2" x 11" report and
not a label print and is drived by a standard BAQ. This allowed for side
by side printing. We also have our bins defined in sections which come
from the 1st 3 characters of the bin number. This reports allows for
skipping to the next page when the section changes. The helps in
distributing the tags to the appropriate personnel based on section.

We did our first Epicor inventory at the end of last year. I found that
it went well by creating a BAQ that allowed me to copy and paste the tag
data (after the tags had been generated) into an Excel sheet and use
mail merge to a WORD tag document to print tags. This allowed complete
control over the tag structure and to filter and sort (i.e. quantity >0
or by bin location). I made a two part tag where one portion of the tag
is cut off and left with the materials and the remaining portion moved
back to the tag police. Supplied everyone with scissors.
The only grunt portion was cutting the tags on a paper cutter after
printing. Kind of low tech but it worked.

Hello all,

We are about to do our first Vantage yearend inventory & would greatly
appreciate some direction from the Vantage perspective.

We are on 803.408b & all we can remember is we're suppose to use Count
Group Entry & Count Tag Entry.

Our MFG manager is asking for at least 2 part tags & I do not recall if
Vantage allows for that.

Also, he only wants to print tags for inventory items that only have a
quantity.

Any and all help appreciated,

Ron Flynn

I've gone through inventory twice since migrating. We also use a BAQ to copy the tags into excel, then print with bartender. we have multipart tags and print on impact printers (some technology is hard to get rid of). Luckily, I have a few fast impact printers. we print the tags with barcodes for easy entry into vantage - the symbol laser scanners seem to read almost anything, even after the shop has their way with them!

good luck, let me know if you need more info.

We switched to count sheets when we went to Vantage, and use removable colored dots to indicate bins/areas that have been counted. The counter jots the count on the dot as well as the sheet, then a checker goes behind to make sure. The auditors were ok with the sheets as long as they didn't have the count pre-printed on them. Seemed to go faster than hanging tags and buying duplicate, pre-perforated paper, etc.
