Email addresses look odd with @name

Are you saying when you get the email, you can now see the email addresses formated correctly but when you 'reply all' it only replys to the from? How many email addresses are you sending the alert to?
If I try to reply all and I'm the only one on the list, the only field that will populate is the From. try a few emails on one alert?

D'oh! You're right. I've been testing with just sending an email to myself. Once I included someone else it works as expected.

define variable hEmailEx as handle no-undo.

run Bpm/BpmEmail.p persistent set hEmailEx.

variables are in here.*/
define variable from_cnt as integer no-undo.
FIND FIRST UserFile WHERE UserFile.dcduserid =
ttCallContextClient.CurrentUserId.
IF AVAIL UserFile THEN
DO:
assign vFrom = UserFile.EMailAddress.
assign CurrentUser = Userfile.Name.
END.

define variable to_cnt as integer no-undo.
FIND FIRST UserFile WHERE UserFile.dcduserid =

IF AVAIL UserFile THEN
DO:
assign vTo = '<' + UserFile.EMailAddress +

AND EmpBasic.EmpStatus = 'A' AND EmpBasic.CheckBox02 AND
EmpBasic.EMailAddress <> '' No-Lock.
ASSIGN vCC = vCC + EmpBasic.EMailAddress +
';'.
END.

define variable subject_cnt as integer no-undo.
assign vSubject = 'Notification : Order #: ' +

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
I struggled with this for a long time. Â My lines of code looks like this:
Â
For Each CustCnt WHERE (CustCnt.Company = Customer.Company) ANDÂ (CustCnt.CustNum = Customer.CustNum) ANDÂ (CustCnt.CheckBox02) ANDÂ (NOT CustCnt.Inactive) ANDÂ (NOT CustCnt.NoContact) NO-LOCK:
/* if email address has at least one character + @ + at least one character + . + at least one character */
IF (available custcnt) and (CustCnt.EMailAddress <> "") and ((CustCnt.EMailAddress MATCHES "*.@.*~..*") and (NUM-ENTRIES(CustCnt.EMailAddress, "@") = 2)) THEN DO:
shipemail = "<" + string(CustCnt.EMailAddress) + ">;" + shipemail.

...
...
...
Email-To = shipemail.

 Â
But if memory serves me, I couldn't get it to work when I tried to go directly to my Exchange Server from Vantage. Â What I finally ended up doing is installing the SMTP Server Feature on my Vantage server (Windows 2008 R2) and setting that up to relay to my Exchange Server. Â After that emails worked fine, I didn't get that weird address problem, and I no longer received stuck emails in the Global Alert Message Error Log.

We are on 9.05.701 and I have been working with BAM emailing recently and I have seen the same thing. The email gets sent, but the address in outlook displays username@ the same as you. We use a local smtp server on the APP server that then relays to Exchange.

I hope this information at least makes you feel comfortable that your issue is not just isolated to your site.

Cheers

A little further information. When you click on the @name email address in outlook you see that display name shows the name@ and the email address field shows domain name then a space and the full email address.

Looking at the epicor-log in the oe102a_wrk folder you can see the data section of the responses show the To: name@domain <name@domain>

I think the latter data is coming from our exchange server,but not sure. I'll need to look further and keep everyone up to date. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

we worked with MS Exchange support and he could not solve, so I gave up on it.

Our other application uses a Linux postfix mail server and Exchange doesn't mangle the address. Maybe I will "filter" the Epicor mail thru there and see if it is any better. I recall a post on using the IIS smtp server that was working for someone.

Cheers

The email addresses need to be supplied with a trailing >; Example: test@

We use Exchange and had this problem. Â The way I fixed it was to first route the email through the SMTP service running on my Vantage server which forwards it to my Exchange server. Â The other part of the fix was to wrap the address in "<>". Â I don't think you can add the "<>" if you type the address in manually, it can only be used through coding and I think you need to end it with a ";". Â So my code looks something like this:
Â
ShipCCemail = "<Shipping_Notifications@...>;".

or

ShipCCemail = ShipCCemail + "<" + SalesRep.EMailAddress + ">;".

Â
we worked with MS Exchange support and he could not solve, so I gave up on it.

Our other application uses a Linux postfix mail server and Exchange doesn't mangle the address. Maybe I will "filter" the Epicor mail thru there and see if it is any better. I recall a post on using the IIS smtp server that was working for someone.

Thanks for the input. I'll give that try in the morning.

I also have tried using IIS smtp and just setting up the smtp server to localhost and that relaying to exchange. No change in behavior.

On a further question I want to be able to include the quote number on the BAM alert, any ideas? I am assuming you need to use the run a program section and build up the email through ABL. Any examples would be a great help.

Cheers
Simon

There are examples in the BAM folder of the file section. What file are you alerting on? I have .p program for several alerts that I have not uploaded to the file section.

Cheers

Hi,
Trying to do this with the quotehed.

I tried adding the >; to the end of the email, and the smtp log returned and email address invalid message.

I have also tried sending emails to a windows 2003 server with IIS SMTP and a 2003 POP3 service, not surprisingly it actualy worked correctly. So it appears to be some setting with our Exchange 2007 server with is not working correctly.

So thanks again, a few steps closer, but not there yet. I'll check out the files and see if I can work through the examples.

Ok I think I understand now.

Just for Clarification attempting to use a normal email address in the email address field of the BAM alert will always make the email show up in the recipients email client as emailaddress@ with no domain. Correct?

The resolution is to actually use a .p in the alerts program section and enclose the email address in <> Correct?

Just one further question. If you use a .p to format your email can you still attach the link?

Yes. Â Executing the .p program on a BAM email allows you to alter the email before it is sent (or cancel it if you want to). Â The BAM works normally in all other aspects.

So I have been dealing with this same issue. I have tried encasing the TO email in the <> but this will not even send the email. Does anyone know of any other solution?

How do you set up the smtp forwarding that was mentioned?

Hello,
Here is an example of a .p I bastardised from another example from the forum.  In this example it is called from a BAM.

Basically it sends an email to the salesperson on behalf of the quote approver.  Yes there is probably a better way so happy for input.

{ud/GlbAlert.i &TableName = "QuoteHed"}
/*Assign Email-Mime-Header = {&HTML-Mime}.*/

define variable vBody as character no-undo initial '':U.
define variable vTo as character no-undo initial '':U.
define variable vCC as character no-undo initial '':U.
define variable vSubmitEmail as character no-undo initial '':U.

Find First Customer where Customer.CustNum = QuoteHed.CustNum no-lock no-error.

Find Task where Task.RelatedToFile = "QuoteHed" and Task.Key1 = string(QuoteHed.QuoteNum) and Task.TaskID = "Q10" no-lock no-error.

Find UserFile where UserFile.DCDUserID = Task.ChangeDCDUserID no-error.

Assign VBody = "Hello,".
Assign VBody = VBody + "~n~nQuote " + string(QuoteHed.QuoteNum) + " for " + Customer.CustID + " " + Customer.Name + " has been Approved.".
Assign VBody = VBody + "~n~nPlease click on the attached link to proceed to delivering the quote to the client.".
Assign VBody = VBody + "~n~n~n~nEpicor Services".
Assign VBody = VBody + "~n~n".
Assign VBody = VBody + "~n**** NOTE****".
Assign VBody = VBody + "~nThis is an automated email please do not respond to this email as the address is unmonitored.".

Assign vTo  = "<user2@...>;".
Assign vSubmitEmail = "<" + UserFile.EmailAddress + ">;".

/*Assign VBody = VBody + "~n~n submitter email address" + vSubmitEmail.*/

/* Alter the people we send emails to based on the gross value and discount*/
if QuoteHed.DocTotalGrossValue > 0 and QuoteHed.DocTotalGrossValue <= 15000 then do:
  Assign VTo = "<user1@...>;<user2@...>;".
  Assign VCC = "<user1@...>;<user2@...>;".
end.

if QuoteHed.DocTotalGrossValue > 15000 and QuoteHed.DocTotalGrossValue <= 25000 then do:
  Assign VTo = "<user1@...>;<user2@...>;".
  Assign VCC = "<user1@...>;<user2@...>;".
end.

if QuoteHed.DocTotalGrossValue > 25000 then do:
  Assign VTo = "<user1@...>;<user2@...>;".
  Assign VCC = "<user1@...>;<user2@...>;".
end.

if QuoteHed.DocTotalDiscount <> 0 then do:
  Assign VTo = "<user1@...>;<user2@...>;".
  Assign VCC = "<user1@...>;<user2@...>;".
end.

Assign EMAIL-To = vSubmitEmail.
Assign EMAIL-CC = vCC + vTO.
Assign EMAIL-Subject =  "Quote: " + string(QuoteHed.QuoteNum) + " for " + Customer.Name + " has been approved.".
Assign EMAIL-Text = vBody.

Kind Regards
Simon Hall

I have tried every solution offered (this thread & others) and all my research still comes up with it being a setting on email server.  Not that I have managed to find and fix it yet.
