Have you checked if you are loosing packets?
ping -t yourserver >mydata.txt from the WAN side for 30 minutes to an hour (depending on how fast the error comes up in epicor) if its random it may not work so well
then look at the mydata.txt file and see if any packets where lost / dropped. (Other option is wireshark or another network tool but ping will work)
also look at your latency on those packets
If you loose even one packet or two… that's likely your issue, unfortunate epicor is not very good at dealing with a crappy connection. You'll get those errors and disconnects and stuff like that. If that's the case I would suggest you look into why packets are being lost. Are you doing site to site VPN? MPLS? Wan Accelerators? what?
YOu could go to a Terminal Server environment so that the connection is not a huge issue but that would require a decent server to run the TS. You could go to EWA but *SHUDDER* no one has ever ventured into that direction its... well unpleasant.
