Mine had a bunch of users for some other company in it. Put in a ticket to EpicCare to ask what was up with that. Also I am supposed to be an Admin and there are spots where I am just classified as a Power User. Is all this because I never used the old version??
Iām pretty sure that āPower Userā is the same as Admin do you have access to the Admin settings (gear icon in the top right corner of the home page)?
Yup! I can access the gear. Just donāt know why a random company, not Metalworks, is referenced for the users. I am thinking it is because I have never used it before for Metalworks??
This makes a big change to how I use and tell my users to make use of the learning center beyond their basic assignments. Treat it like an extra credit buffet. Browse and jump into any course that is relevant to your interests. The course tree hierarchy made discovery really easy and accessible.
Search doesnāt work as a replacement. At best, searching requires a user to know what theyāre searching before learning about it. In practice, the inclusive or search strategy causes a weird inversion of specificity.
- āStudioā produces 66 results.
- āApp studioā, a more specific search, produces 196 results.
- āApplication studioā produces 348 results.
- āeā notably produces 310 results. The letter āeā is a more specific search than āapplication studioā.
Iām kinda stumped on how to independently use the new learning center to learn about or review specific topics, or discover related information.
It doesnāt help that the subject line states āAdministrator has just created a new userā. Big flag for a phishing attack as no administrator within the organization did this. The URL goes to a marketing tracking URL redirect not the actual URL of the learning site. bait and switch technique used in a lot of phishing emails. Why multiple emails in the same day?
I did thank the users that flagged it as suspicious, but come on Epicor do better.
Epicor failed, again. As a company admin I received no prior communication from Epicor about the change. We got the same email as all regular users who started reporting it as SPAM. As they should have based on the phishing like email.
We have barely used ELC but got all the notifications about the change.
29th July - Notification of a new ELC and invo to the webinar
13th Aug - Webinar
20th Aug - Reminder change is coming hereās how to prepare
29th Aug - New user email.
We have barely used ELC and I have a few questions I was attempting to complete the Hands-On - My First Layer in Application Studio it referred to a BAQ in the EDU environment which we have never accessed before, managed to access it but the database has no Data in it, is it supposed to? following the course notes fails due to no orders or customers when previewing the layer. I have access to the Cloud management portal but could not find anywhere there to refresh the database.
One more thing, is there a way to stop users self-enrolling?
Just putting my name into the hat of people who got all of the notifications in the run up to the change.
I got zero notifications and I am the education administrator.
Yes, it should have sample data. You might have to contact Support to have them refresh it.
How hard would it have really been to pull the email for every user with admin permission for their company and send an email? This isnāt rocket science.

Well, this thread has turned into a bit of an echo chamber of āwho moved my cheeseā (as we sometimes do
).
Weāve covered the same ground enough times, so Iām closing this topic. Iāve moved the relevant Q&A into a new thread here where you can continue asking constructive questions. Hopefully @karihagedorn and team can chime in with more answers there.
I really appreciate everyoneās passion, weāre a strong community because we care. But sometimes that passion can spiral into shared frustration rather than solutions.
On the bright side, the new ELC tool brings some exciting features Iām looking forward to trying out, especially the ability to add our own content
.
And finally, a big thank-you to @karihagedorn for jumping in, answering questions, and putting in the effort to support us here.
