I think the Model Context Protocol is going to make it possible to run agents locally. It’s only been around since November and it’s taking over the AI world.

If you’re into the Microsoft world, Semantic Kernel also exists (in Python and C# ). Fits right into the ecosystem and made it breeze to integrate into ASP.NET Core codebase. MCP’s usefulness is that you can extend the functionalities of AIs not under your control like Anthropic’s Claude chat, for example. If you’re an app developer, it is an unnecessary link in the already mega long chain of web requests and would arguably only be useful to add for your end-users. That said, you can still use MCP in SK.

Prism is remarkably affordable for an Epicor product. They have pricing that is highly competitive with other tools on the market.
