I haven't seen Progress corruption but was able to fix Vantage corruption on
the JobAsmbl table with ProVision when Child/Next/BOMSequence fields were
corrupted. By the way, the V8 conversion can corrupt the BOMSequence -- it
renumbers the field producing duplicates in 6 of our jobs.
I don't understand why Epicor's solution wouldn't work on the normal Dump &
Load so you wouldn't have to buy ProVision. Maybe you could move the
corrupted tables to a different directory if the process would take too long
on all of them.
We use ProVision to update the database. It also provides a GUI programming
interface similar to Visual Basic that's much easier to program GUI than the
non-updating 4GL provided with Vantage. But beware of this powerful product
for without careful analysis, you can damage the database yourself real
easy.
