Hi Nick -
Thanks for the info, 6.1 is set up the same, but instead of having to
click on each and every PO line release and job release, I thought there
was a way to set it up so it was checked as a default instead of
unchecked. Maybe it only is an option if you have the MRP module, which
we do not.

Liz,
We are on 8.03.305K so I can't vouch for where the settings are in 6.1,
however in 8.03 you will find that locking PO's is made at the release
level, and there is a check box within the PO release tab to enable
this. There also appears to be a bug in our version as locking one
release cosmetically locks them all so you dont know where you are! :o(
On the job entry form there are two locking options, one to lock the
quantity and one to lock the schedule.
We are new to a formal MRP system ( although we are learning fast! ),
and the locking options are very useful for stopping MRP generating
loads of change suggestions in an attempt to move things around when
you really don't want it to. This can be mitigated by having the right
MRP rules implemented in the first place, but we are
still "experimenting" with all this stuff... ;o)
In 8.03.305, nothing is locked by default so we are locking things
manually at present. With more MRP experience we might choose to start
locking things automatically and I believe this can be done via a BPM,
but we haven't played around with this yet.
I hope this helps...
