[6.10] ODBC File DSN Oddity with Access-2000

When adding the link table (right after the logon screen where you enter the password) before selecting the table to link to, look for a check box on the lower right that reads something like Save Password.
Â
When this box is checked then it will keep the login and password for the linked table.

See attached screenshot.

I'm extracting some Vantage data into Access tables. I'm using a File DSN which includes the username and password for the ODBC connection. When I add a linked table in the Access DB it works great. No credentials prompting. When I exit the database and then open it again I can't view records in that linked table without being prompted for user/pass. IF...I then add another table (once again selecting the DSN file) I can then immediately access that other table I had tried to open before and failed.

It is as if just refering to the DSN file provides the credentials for the rest of the session.

Anyone know of a way in a macro to hit the DSN file so that my Make-Table queries can run? I've got this all packaged in an AutoExec macro that runs when the DB is opened so I can schedule it to run the update everynight.

Thanks,

Never mind. While trying the scenario below (adding some other table to establish credentials) I noticed a check box to 'Save password'. I deleted all the linked tabled and added them back, this time checking the box to save password, and it now works without prompting.
