803 Blank Title 51498

I'm curious about the Cost Account course.

Did it get more indepth than entering standard and actualy costs, adjusting costs, Costing Workbench and running the WIP Reconciliation?

The controller here was in Cost Accounting class this past week and she
indicated that 8.03 is not a general release. It contains functionality that
some people *must* have right now. Obviously, with the new functionality comes
increased instability (just keep those comments to yourself...)

So the way I understand it, 8.05 will be the general release that will contain
all of the new features that 8.03 users debugged for you. ;-)

Has everyone noticed 803 was posted for download on Friday?
I am awaiting a couple of bigt software additions, but there is no
change document online, and tech support said that there is nothing
outlining these changes that they can send me.
Does anyone have any knowledge about the version, and has anyone had
the guts to try it out?
Carey
I think it's just the docs that were posted (as of last night....)

I got the notice on Friday, too....I thought I saw everything...When I
went to look, though, it was just the installation guides for the
various flavors (Linux, Windows, Progress, SQL)

My CAM gave our nascent local group a couple documents and one was a "what's new in 8.03" type. It was very enlightening and will greatly help my current 8+ justification project. The "extras" in 8.03 are enough that I think it will really sway some people here to get on the upgrade bandwagon. One minor feature (fix) that is HUGE for us....PO num/line/rel on subcontractor packing slips...never could figure why this was not there or in the DBF file.

One thing I did see thoough was a large number of "new modules" meaning extra cost to get them. But still there are some good "enhancements" to existing modules, such as some KanBan processing features. I also saw a Job Closing/Complete enhancement using configurable parameters. Also interesting is a combo of BAQ and searches for creating customizable "Quick Searches". A BAQ report designer to create Crystal Reports that from from output from a defined BAQ. Finally (for us) a very intriguing "Retrieve Engineering Data" action on Quotes, Jobs and EWB to pull all the info onto the engineering tabs.

One of the documents as June2006 in the title so it may not be exactly what was released. Still, worth asking your CAM about it.

Oh, and all qty fields now expanded to 999,999,999,999.99 ...for people selling nanotechnology I suppose. Like a vial with 700 Million BuckyBalls. ;)

Don't need to even get to the nanotechnology level. One of our
facilities sells small springs by the 10s of millions. You should have
been in the meeting when I had to relay to the CEO of our company that
we couldn't enter a sales order for a particular customer since our ERP
systems quantity fields weren't big enough.

Good times...

Can I ask a stupid question, please?

What is Vantage 8.03?

Is it just the next version of 8 that is going to be released?

If so, why does it get its own section in the downloads area on EpicWeb?

Cheers,

Jonny

Epicor has released additional functionality/modules in 8.03 hence
the 03 rather than patches etcs .

On Epicweb there is download for the additional functionality. There
is some real good stuff in there.

This has been discussed here before.

Does 8.03 install over 8.00.809 ? Here is an excerpt from the 8.03.303 guide:

Welcome to the 8.03.303 service pack! This service pack includes an entire series of

changes and resolved issues that have been completed by the Development Team. To find

out what this service pack contains, download and review the sp8_00changelist_809.pdf

file.

Before you install the service pack, read this section. It discusses important notes pertinent

to the installation of the service pack.

Important Notes

This Service Pack Is Cumulative. In order to use this service pack, version 8.00.705 or

higher must be active on your system. If you have not already done so, upgrade to this

version. Also note that you do not need any previous service packs; if 8.00.705 or higher is

on your system, you may install this file.

The 809 service pack must be run prior to running system conversions.

This service pack may require a schema change, so please anticipate that this upgrade may

take some time. Also note that if you have Customer Connect or Supplier Connect, you will

need a service pack for each of those products in order to upgrade the database.

I downloaded the change list and install guide. The guide says that to
install 803.303 you must be at level 803.300 or higher.

I also notice that the change list defines 803.301 and 803.302 as well
as 303.

It appears to me that Epicor has already had 803.300 available
considering that they are already three patches out.

I'm guessing that 803.300 will be CD based so I'll keep an eye on the
mail.
