The Vantage Customer table has to many indexes for Access to handle.
Your options are:
1) Create a view in Progress to output Customer table. (Epicor has a document on how to do this)
2) Dump the table to a flat file regularly and link it in Access.
3) Setup a View in SQL Server to the Progress database via ODBC then link it to Access. (SQL Server does not limit the number of Indexes you can link to on a table.

Good luck

Subject: [Vantage] Access and ODBC import errors

Hi,

When I try to import data into MS Access using the Merant ODBC driver I
get an error.
In Access I go to "Get External Data",
select my Vantage ODBC source,
and select the table PUB.Customer.

Then receive this error message:
"The operation failed. There are too many indexes on table
'VtQoDefTemp0000'. Delete some of the indexes on the table and try the
operation again."

I'm using Access 2000 and Windows XP.
I tried upgrading to the latest Jet and MDAC but I still receive the
error.
I've tried it on several other workstations and get the same problem.

I use Access to perform "quick and dirty" data analysis A LOT, so I'd
like to know if there is a fix for this.

Thanks,
Bruce Ordway

No, I sure don't. I had a conversation with someone at Tech Support about ODBC in general and they offered the document and I told them I didn't need it.

Do you know if this is available through Eportal tips or answers?
If so, what key words?

Thanks,
Bruce
