Action Plans in 2025.2?

Anyone in version 2025.2 or later and started to use Actions Plans? I’ve seen a few forums posts about its upcoming release but no actual details of using it. Says it could be useful in ECN and other work flows which is pretty exciting for us.

I did see there’s a 3 hour ELC class about it, on the list to review but any feedback would be appreciated.

I got the license activated for it Monday evening, but haven’t had time to try to do anything with it. They said in the 2026.100 webinar that it was a free license but you’d probably have to request it from your CAM. I’d start there if you haven’t already.

The ELC class sounds new so I’ll definitely be checking that out.

I can’t find this , what did you search for? I hate the search on this new ELC its so bad..

I searched for “Actions Plans” and the below came up. I haven’t watched it, so not Certain it’s what I’m looking for but seems to be right?

Yeah I do’nt see that at all taht’s so odd… @karihagedorn why can’t I see this course? Is there a specific permisions needed?

And yes you have to contact your CAM and get a license but its free.

Interested to see what you find @pewerth. Let us know what you think as you start to tinker with it.

Problem is we are still on 2024.1, looking at 2025.2 first before we go to Kinetic browser. Contacting our CAM and working on figuring out how to setup a Test environment with it so we can try it out.

Looks interesting. Curious what scenerios folks have in mind?

docs example, not inspiring:

The ELC course’s example is running an approval process whenever someone updates a Part record. I can imagine also using this to run a review process when an Order is entered from a customer: confirm all documents are received, get sign-off from Engineering that the method is ready, Manufacturing agrees to the delivery date, etc.

That’s what I wanted to check out because we are trying to build something right now in sharepoint, not sure what y’all are using for that @tsmith.

We’re using spreadsheets that get uploaded to Teams and trigger a Power Automate workflow to prompt for approvals from certain users. Users are supposed to fill out their portions in the file and then approve the Approval request. Once they’re all done, a notification goes back to Sales to firm the sales order release and send out the order acknowledgement.

That was all put in place because Kinetic didn’t have a workflow system for orders. I think if we had had action plans available when we implemented that, we would have gone with them instead. Much easier to keep everything in Kinetic.

Alright cool, we are trying to adopt a process like that and was wondering if we were going down a dark road… I was thinking ECM as well, it may be easier.

We are doing something similar, except without any power automate workflows.

We just requested the license for Action Plans last week after learning the license was free and are hoping to be able to transition this workflow from excel back into Epicor.

I still don’t understand what this is and why I would want it.

Excuse Me What GIF by Bounce

First thing that stands out to me is streamlining the ECN process. Our is currently a piece of paper we distribute. If we could have on a New Revision of a Part - emails sent out for engineering, purchasing, and operations sign off would be awesome. Digitize the process.

Another idea is sales order goes in for a part with unapproved Revision. Could have it automatically contact engineering and purchasing for approval. Sure we could make a manual BPM I guess but if this is an easier no code way would be nice.

Not every company has large IT resources, keeping things easy and within epicor is preferred.

Man I am glad to see we are not the only one’s that face the ECN process and the amount of approvals and work that goes into it.

When you introduce a new part to the system, does it follow the same workflow?

Not yet it doesn’t, we have way too many new parts for that. But if the process was a lot better, with a nice Action Plan Workflow… I have way too much hope for this idea.

Same here.

We’re hoping it can replace the Quote Task process - our is so variable and sometime circular, so the built in Tasks feature is hard to use and too rigid.

I put in my license request for this just now.

@josecgomez - Please DM me on this, would love to get your feedback on what exactly you dont like about it! We can also investigate why you are not seeing that course.
