Adding CRM AFTER going Live is causing problems

We have been trying to use the CRM module with moderate success (v6.1).

We initially had our sales territories and sales regions set up wrong.
We have modified all of them now to, I think, is the correct format.
We received some CRM training material for v5.1. Quite vague but the
sales territories and regions seem to work.

The Salespersons Workbench is odd. It was very slow (minutes to open).
We have installed a patch about 1 month ago and it now opens much
faster. It is still slow but much improved. On the proposal side of
the screen initially none our our outstanding proposals were
appearing. After experimenting we found that the Close Date MUST be
enter when the proposal is prepared. Also the Confidence Button MUST
be clicked and a percentage value entered. If both are done then
voila!! the pipeline shows the outstanding proposals.

The booking values on the right side have never agreed with our actual
booking numbers. We just determined this week that the Workbench shows
our bookings WITHOUT discounts applied. So there is a growing gap
between actuals and the workbench.

We still can not get the Sales Quotas to work. We have discussed with
Epicor to no available.

We were told when we upgraded from v5.1 to v6.1 that our previous CRM
would be resolved. Not true. I would be suspicous of v8!!

I remember being confused as well when trying to setup the CRM.
Specifically what error are you getting and where?

A lot of our problems had to do with TERRITORIES & REGIONS and how these
are supposed to work (i.e explained to us by our former CAM) vs. how
they actually work. I can't remember all the details, but Epicor had to
create a special fix program for this to work for us. I have forwarded
your message to a couple of individuals that are more involved in our
CRM module to see if they can add to my thoughts. Also, the way we set
up our salespeople was "funky" as compared to how Vantage is set up. We
set up 2 different IDs for the same salesperson - "Doe, John" received a
5% commission whereas "John Doe" received a 2.5% commission (rather than
just having order entry change the default commission rate). This has
now been changed, however, I believe we are still struggling to use it
correctly.

As far as performance-based problems, it is my understanding that the
Salesperson Workbench takes FOREVER to load. We have had tech support
take a look at our database, but I don't recall any specific findings or
recommendations.

I think if we would have had Dan McCarter involved BEFORE implementation
of the CRM module, a lot of our issues could have been resolved prior to
going live with it.

suspect we are doing something wrong. I would love to hear comments from
CRM users to confirm the software does not have a performance issue and
we need to look at what WE are doing with the product. Any other

CRM. He was scheduled to retire at the end of the year, but word has it
that he is working - on a reduced schedule.

We bought the CRM module late last summer and had all kinds of trouble
with it (our CAM at the time failed to inform us that Epicor "highly
recommends" bringing in an Epicor rep to help set it up). We finally
brought Dan in late in October to help us get straighten out.

I received confirmation from support that the Salesperson Workbench is a
known issue. It takes us 3 - 5 minutes to open a workbench view, if it
will open at all. It was allegedly fixed in Sonoma (V8) and there are no
plans to fix it in Ver 6.1 (the CRM release :-), you remember the ad
campaign right) as far as support is aware. I will pursue this as we did
not plan to move to V8 for a while due to performance issues of that
build. If there are any other CRM users out there that have interest you
can contact me off line and we can compare notes.

We've had the CRM module for two years, which we still can't use properly
because of the Salesperson Workbench issue. We're very keenly awaiting the
new improved functionality in Version 8!!!
