Adding New Options Field to an BAQ Report

Thanks everyone for all of the help. I did forget a couple of steps in the
list that was posted last which caused part of the problem. The other part
of the problem was the power of the server of my testing database. This
server is only a dual core Windows XP machine and the BAQ I was modifying
generates a large amount of data. The print preview was taking so long to
pull the data that I would eventually get the 7175 app error and lose my
connection to the database.

I finally narrowed down the amount of data enough so the print preview would
show the report and I could connect the XML to the Crystal Report.

Thanks again.

I need to add an Option field to a BAQ Report and have the correct data pull into Crystal.

The BAQ, BAQ Report Design, and Crystal have all been previously created successfully by a former employee. The BAQ Report already has 2 date option fields and multiple filters. I now need to add an additional option field, this time a character field.

I have added the field to the report design, but when I attempt to run the report, it never generates the report in Vantage.

How do I add this option field to my existing report?
> I need to add an Option field to a BAQ Report
Look in the BAQ report designer.
Options and filters can be added there.
The fields should also be in the BAQ
(and not all fields can be used as filters).
When added here, they will display on the BAQ report form.

You can also add parameter fields in the Crystal report.
When the report is run, they would display on a separate Crystal form.

Do you see the option output in XML file? If so, you likely need to reconnect it to the Crystal Report.

Useful links for the Yahoo!Groups Vantage Board are: ( Note: You must have already linked your email address to a yahoo id to enable access. )

Is your Option field intended to affect the data selected by the BAQ, or the way CR presents it?

For example I sometimes make a BAQ Report that has a "Show Details" checkbox. I add an Option field ReportParam.Check01, labeled "Show Details", set the defualt to TRUE (if I normally want details displayed). In CR, I'll set the Suppress section for the Detail section, using a formula:

if {BAQReportParameter.Check01} then FALSE else TRUE

This option doesn't affect the data returned by the DAQ, but is instead used by CR to control the suppression of the detail section based on the Checkbox setting when the BAQ Report was run.

And for completeness....
Below is what I do when changing a BAQ Report. It's really just all the steps I do to make sure changes to the BAQ or Report options get through to Crystal Reports, and then back on to Vista/Vantage. Look at it to make sure you aren't skipping something.

1. If necessary, make changes to BAQ.
2. Copy the baq report from "W:\mfgsys803\Server\reports\CustomReports" to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Epicor\Vista\8.03.403D\MC\shared\Reports". These to paths are setup in BAQ Report Designer under Actions\Options.
3. Launch BAQ Report Designer and load the BAQ Report
4. If necessry make changes to BAQ Report settings (Options, Filters, Sorts, etc..)
5. Run the Actions\Test Report Form
6. Select options, filters and sorts to make sure report will contain useful data.
7. Do a Print Preview, and ignore the resulting report
8. Copy the recently created XML file (which will have updated data and report parameters) from "W:\mfgsysdata\Reports\userid\" to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Epicor\Vista\8.03.403D\MC\shared\Reports".
9. Close the Print Preview
10. Close the Test Report Form window.
11. Select Actions\Design Crystal Report.
12. In CR Designer, select Database\Select Datasource Location
13. In the upper pane, expand ReportDataSet
14. Expand Properties
15. Double click the File Path, select one character in the path\filename, and delete it.
16. Press Enter (a window wil open asking for the ADO.NET (XML) info.
17. Use Browse to select the copy of the XML file from step 8. Leave the Class field blank, and the Use Data... checkbox unchecked.
18. Click Finish
19. Click Close
20. Select Report\Refresh Report Data( or just hit F5).
21. Make whatever changes to the Report, save it, and exit CR.
22. Select Actions\Deploy BAQ Report form the BAQ Report Designer window.
