Lee,
It IS possible to do what you are attempting. A number of users
have modified the Traveler in this way, and I have modified our
POForm to add other tables/fields as well.
I don't believe there are any Epicor documents on this issue. In
fact, I have a currently open issue that's being looked into on this
as the SQL-92 drivers keep you from being able to do this very
thing. There were some posts on this last week.
You are going up the right track in using a subreport, however. The
key is that the .dbf files change all the numeric fields to strings
(especially the index fields that you would like to) and thus, you
need to convert them to strings in a formula in the main report, and
then link the formula (via the subreport links) to the subreports
index field.
Also, you need the Merant/Datadirect ODBC drivers at this point. I
wish you would call Epicor and let them know that you need this
functionality, however. I'm seeing more and more emails on the
subject every week.
If you need more details, let me know.

unfortunately are NOT part of the .dbf export from Vantage and
therefore unavailable to add directly. ODBC with subreport
filter\formula seems to be my only non-custom-programming option...
