Looking for some information about alternate part setups and their correlation with engineering workbench. We’ve recently switched to a new process for coated assemblies. We are setting up new assembly part numbers for the coated parts. Initially, we were setting up the new coated parts as alternates to the original but that has caused an issue. The process states that the new coated part number will replace the original part number on the bill of materials, and the original part number will become a child within the new part number.
With the alternate part setup, when attempting to update any BOM that uses that new part number, we get an error as follows: part number xxxx will cause an endless loop in the method defined for (parent part).
We went back and removed the alternates all together, but we still get this error.
Has this happened to anyone else?
