Application Studio not allowing me to do anything

Gang,
We are still in the Pilot phase, but are wanting to customize some screens as we introduce new users to the program as we prepare for Go Live. Want to put our best face forward. I made a small mess of the layers on the Opportunity/Quote entry screen. It was the first one I did any work with, then we have Kinetic do some development, then I got back in a played some more, etc.

Two days ago I merged all the layers, figuring I would then remove the items we don’t want from the merged layer and make our Master. Now the new merged layer has a duplicated UD field. Likely two layers had the new UD column but with different ElementIDs, so I simply selected one and deleted, saved, and published without looking too closely. The layer didn’t show up in menu maintenance so I went back to see what I missed, however I could see the field was still duplicated. I attempted once again to delete and this time realized it never actually disappeared. I fought this for a good 20-30 minutes but no matter what I did it never really went away, and after hitting delete I lost the ability to select anything in the panel card?! So then heck I will re-create all this on a new layer. I can create a layer but I can’t add or remove elements?!
I have tried kinetic browser, smart client both with same results.
I tested on another screen Order entry to see if this issue was specific to one screen, but same results.
I had another user login and try and they get the same thing.
I have opened a ticket with Epicare yesterday, and while I can see someone watched the screen recording I linkked, the ticket is still unassigned.

Anyone? Thoughts? Similar? We are in our THIRD database doing our PoC stuff.

The layer issue in the last number of updates has been maddening for us. I would suggest trying to run conversion 191 and clear the MetaUI - this seems to work for us sometimes, but not always, or even, usually, of late.

Also, there can be persistent cache issues in the browsers. All of us on our “Epicor Core” team have gotten used to checking things in two different browsers (firefox and Chrome), clearing caches, and using Incognito/Private Screens. Unfortunately, we had to train all of our users on refreshing common issues (that are all too common in Kinetic IMHO) with regard to row errors, or things “not appearing” correctly -despite having developed EUPs to minimize things that we can control.

You can also try hard refreshing screens (ctrl and reload button). Some of us have resorted to even having a clear cache plugin in our browser just to make sure it’s not “us” and what we are seeing is really happening and not some goofed-up cached issue…

I would put in a ticket for sure, regardless.

OK seriously I am not a total moron, but I am a half wit so maybe try that again in the common tongue instead of this deep form of elvish that shall not be uttered in the Shire.

FYI we are SaaS, cloud hosted in case that matters.

How do I clear the MetaUI?

Sorry, hahaha. Seriously, I’m the semi-new guy as well. We are on-prem. I’m not totally sure how it works in the Cloud. We have access to conversion workbench and run it from there (an app inside Epicor).

It’s simply “Conversion Workbench” look for Run sequence 191 “MetaUIMgration” and process/run pending conversion. We’ve done this dozens of times and has not caused any issue (but, of course, caveat emptor). It often fixes layer/cache issues for us.

I will say when you run it, it slows usage to a crawl for about 5 minutes and, forever what reason, it always runs the countdown twice.

Well thanks guys didn’t seem to help so far. I will be having a meeting with tech support hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

Sincere apologies if this comes across like I’m talking down, but you mentioned being new and I’ve seen some veterans (who are new to Kinetic) run into this.

WHERE are you trying to make your change? If you’re trying to edit the “Main” page… what you’re describing will happen:

I just want to verify you are trying to edit the “Quote” page and not the “Main” page:

The “Main” page just displays the contents of the Tab Pages beneath it (Activity, Quote, Explorer, Tasks, etc.). You can’t EDIT those pages from the Main page. You have to edit them from their respective pages.

That’s always been the case as far as I know… but its very easy to click on the wrong form.

I told another user very recently (who had the exact same struggle) that if I hadn’t run into this issue myself, I wouldn’t have known the answer.
