Avalara - setting up tax exempt customers

Hello,
Does anyone know when using Avalara tax service, if you can you set up an Epicor customer to tax exempt without using Avalara’s website for exempt customers?

I thought about setting up a tax liability with no taxes and set it to be used by Avalara, but haven’t tested it yet.

Any advice from other Avalara users please?

Have you tried to enable the tax exempt field in the Customer maintenance? It is the Customer.TaxExempt table field.

Hello Chia, we just heard back from avalara, and they are saying to the entity use code to some tax exempt value and set the tax level to per line. our first test worked, but we also entered the tax exempt info also.

Those fields I mentioned are right below the tax exempt fields on the billing tab of customer maintenance.

We’ve set up “non-taxable state” as as an entry in tax liability, so the non-sales tax state customers don’t even get an Avalara calculation (and fee).

Just to verify, on the Tax Liability maintenance form, first tab, is the “Tax Connect Calculation” checked or unchecked?
