Bar Coding

Thanks this is great. The only issue I am having is on a few of the slower
production machines is that the scanner appears to be too fast for the
machine. I combined the select employee with the employee number and only
got the middle 3 characters of a 5 digit field to appear. Does anyone know
of a scanner you can adjust the throughput speed on? I thought of this or
possibly adding a few left or right arrow commands to let the machine keep
up.

Thanks again,

Michael

Whenever the shared HP LJ2200 on an XP Pro box has been sitting idle for a period of time and I try to print to it across the network from another XP Pro box or NT4.0 (haven't tried W2K) the print job will sit in spooling status for awhile. I finally get an error that the job couldn't print, retry or cancel. Clicking retry will get it to work and the job prints. Printing again right away will go through without a hitch. Letting the printer sit idle again duplicates the problem. I'm not sure if this is an XP or HP thing. Anyone else experienced this?

Yes, we have that same type of problem when we print to an HP4000...hadn't
really payed attention to whether it was idle or not when the problem
occurs...will have to watch that. Epicor says it's not them. But it's only
on the XP pro PC that does it. Win2K works fine.

Thank God it's not just me. I have a similar problem with a HP3300 shared
on a Win98 pc. It will show "waiting" as the status and nothing will print.
This doesn't happen to every user. Two other users are sending jobs and
having no problems while the third user is DOA. All of these machines are
Win98SE. Nothing seems to clear the problem short of deleting the printer
on reinstalling the printer on the affected pc. The hosting pc prints fine
all day long.

I think it is an HP problem. I'm just trying to decide if it is worth the
hassle to call HP or just send the printer back.

Does anyone know the string for "Enter" when adding it to a bar code? I am
trying to create a bar code for Select Employee - Employee # - Enter -
Enter - Start Activity - Production.

Thanks in advance,

Mike,
I emailed you a "Preset Page" that I use for data
collection. To see the "special characters" just change the font. I
have a list of some of the codes (thanks to this list) if you need it.
