We seem to be running into an issue with Bartender with barcodes. Seems like that if we have certain letters in the barcode, Bartender would throw an error and not print. I tried “Code 39 - Regular” and it’s causing issue. When I change to “Code 39-Regular(Full ASCII)” then it print the label, but it’s putting the + around the letters.
Anyone able to get around this?
This is what it looks like when I scanned the barcode that’s “Code 39-Regular(Full ASCII)”.

Have you tried capital letters? I wouldn’t think it’d matter but the spec says it’s all caps.
Code 39 (also known as Alpha39, Code 3 of 9, Code 3/9, Type 39, USS Code 39, or USD-3) is a variable length, discrete barcode symbology defined in ISO/IEC 16388:2007.
The Code 39 specification defines 43 characters, consisting of uppercase letters (A through Z), numeric digits (0 through 9) and a number of special characters (-, ., $, /, +, %, and space). An additional character (denoted '*') is used for both start and stop delimiters. Each character is composed of nine elements: five bars and f...

I had this same problem, and Randy hit the nail on the head - Code39 requires capital letters, and Bartender doesn’t make the conversion for you.

You can write a script for BT to do it for you though (or maybe even field properties)

Thank you. I did try Code 128 and that seems to be working. Any issues with using Code 128?

Well it depends. Some (cheaper) scanning equipment wont read it, but its pretty widely accepted.

Havent found a scanner yet that doesn’t read Code 128. Plus its slimmer.

I checked and our barcodes are all capitals.

Also use Code39 Full ASCII. For example our BIN Numbers have dashes and require FULL ASCII to read dashes.
