Best Practise

We currently have one site and two warehouses, in the warehouses we have some materials in both warehouse. when a Job calls for materials and the demand is on the MAIN warehouse but the materials available are only in the 2nd warehouse what is best practise ??

  1. Issue materials from the 2nd warehouse into the Job in the Main warehouse?
  2. transfer the materials from the 2nd warehouse into the Main warehouse and issue to the job?

I would like to know your thoughts, thanks in advance

I always try and replicate what is actually happening in the warehouse.

If the users are taking stock from the second warehouse and issuing to the job, then why put in an extra process?

Thank you for your input, I would agree with your statement

However would issuing from 2nd Warehouse into Job In Main warehouse cause any issues???

No it would not, it just makes the data confusing. Particularly if the warehouses are miles apart

ERP will Lie to you right back, if you lie to it  so like Andrew said replicate what is happening. If someone is driving out to Warehouse 2 and bringing the stuff to Warehouse 1 to do the work.

Then Transfer and Issue is what is actually happening. That way if the guy doesn’t get around to issuing the material right away at least you know where ti is.

If the warehouses share a building / space then just issue directly

Thanks
