Bins showing 'on hand' qty and minus 'on hand' qty for parts with zero stock

Hi,

We are finding an issue where parts with zero on hand stock, are showing an on-hand quantity and a minus on hand quantity for the same amount. The records total up to zero. E.g.

We have a part for which there are 0 in stock.

For some reason, the part is showing as having 12 On Hand and then -12 On Hand in the same bin. Both are lot number 100301. This adds up to zero, but I don’t understand why the stock is displaying like this.

Here is the BAQ I created for the PartBin table, which shows this.

When I look at Part Tracker > Activity > On Hand - Bins, It is showing this lot number, but with ‘0’ in the ‘On Hand’ Quantity field. I.e. it is summing up the ‘12’ and ‘-12’. This grid usually does not show records if the ‘On Hand’ quantity is zero.

Here is the transaction history for this part and lot, which confirms that there should be zero in stock, as the lot has been issued to a job on 02/05/2024.

We have about 52 parts that are affected like this. They all seem to be parts that have been purchased and received in. They have gone through similar transactions - i.e. PUR-INS (Goods received and Inspection Required); INS-STK (stock passed inspection and moved to stock location) and STK-STK (stock moved to new stock location).

The problem is that in certain screens (like ‘Bin Tracker’, which shows current stock in a bin), these plus and minus stock records are being displayed and confusing users.

I’ve tried reproducing the steps to find out what is causing this, but cannot make the issue happen. Anyone seen this before?

Thanks for any help!

Do you have any BPMs or such that might be running in the background on any of these transactions?

We had something similar recently that was due to people choosing the wrong lot number for the bin entered when doing a transaction (I forget exactly what transaction it was for us, STK-STK, I think). Fixed it by updating the lot number records, IIRC.

Are you using PCIDs? We have experienced this same issue.

Your part tracker screen shows that the parts are different revisions. So someone picked the wrong revision somewhere. Revision tracking is a new feature in Epicor, so it’s possible it’s a bug if it wasn’t user error.

Thanks all

I think this is the likely issue. The part has ‘track inventory by revision’ enabled. In theory, it should not be possible to receive or move stock without specifying a revision. It seems like there is a transaction or action where the revision is not being carried across. I have raised a ticket with Support for assistance.
